SUMMARY:Six Sessions Practice: Dzogchen Meditation for Personal Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Six Sessions Practice: Dzogchen Meditation for Personal Retreat\nDeepen your practice with the Six Sessions Practice\, a complete meditation cycle that Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche first shared with his Western students on coming to the west. Rooted in Dzogchen and drawing from sutra and tantra\, this practice can be the main practice of a retreat of any length\, as well as daily meditation\, helping practitioners connect to the natural state of mind. \nRinpoche teaches that these Six Sessions link directly to the Mother Tantra (Ma Gyü) and the Oral Transmission of Zhang Zhung (Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyü) lineages which are at the heart of Ligmincha International\, offering a path to clarity\, stability\, and awakening. \n\nPractice Overview\n\nGuru Yoga (Lama’i Naljor) – A universal Guru Yoga not tied to any specific teacher\, deity\, or lineage\, allowing connection with all our teachers.\nRefuge and Compassion (Bodhicitta) Prayers – Drawn from the Mother Tantra\, these stabilize the mind and open the heart.\nNine Breathings of Purification – Working with the subtle body\, these clear mental\, emotional\, and energetic obscurations.\nSecuring the Boundary – A tantric practice creating a secure and protected container for meditation.\nContemplative Breathing – The heart of the Six Sessions\, drawn from the Twenty-One Nails of the Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyü\, guiding direct experience of the natural state.\nDedication of Merit – Concluding the practice with aspiration and the natural expression of generosity.\n\nGeshe Denma Gyaltsen has been leading and teaching the Six Sessions Practice for Ligmincha Texas for decades\, and will guide us through the steps of the practice as well as the purpose of each step\, with special emphasis on Securing the Boundary and Contemplative Breathing. He will also offer the transmission (lung) for the practices. \n\nWho Should Attend\nThis teaching is for anyone interested in learning complete Dzogchen meditation practice through this set of simple yet profound meditation tools to deepen their wisdom and awareness. The Six Sessions is also the foundational practice for the Three-Day Dark Retreat program beginning at Chamma Ling Crestone in September of 2026. Anyone interested in participating in that program should attend this teaching. \n\nRegister and get more information at: \nhttps://serenityridge-ligmincha.secure.retreat.guru/program/six-sessions-practice-dzogchen-meditation-for-personal-retreat/?lang=en\n\n \nGeshe Denma Gyaltsen is the resident lama of Ligmincha Texas. He arrived in Houston in January 2016 to serve as Ligmincha Texas’s first resident lama. \nGeshe Denma was born in northern Nepal. His father brought him to Menri Monastery\, India\, regarded as the mother Bon monastery in exile\, in 1981 to begin his program of study toward the Geshe degree. He received all the Bon teachings\, initiations and transmissions in sutra\, tantra and dzogchen from His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche\, the 33rd Menri Trizin\, and His Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. \nWhen he became a senior student\, he was asked to teach philosophy to younger students. He successfully completed this degree program in 1996 and was awarded the Geshe certificate\, which is considered equivalent to a Ph.D. in Bön Buddhist philosophy and religion. \nGeshe Denma was an accomplished teacher and in 1998 was appointed\, with the approval of the Tibetan government in exile\, first abbot of Zhu Rishing Yungdrung Kundak-Ling Monastery\, a Bon Monastery in Sikkim\, India by His Holiness. He served two terms in this capacity until 2003. In addition\, from the time he graduated until 2008\, Geshe Denma also was active in assisting Geshe Nyima Dakpa with the Bon Children’s Home\, which houses many children in Dolanji\, India\, providing them with food\, healthcare and free education.

SUMMARY:The Four Wheels of Yungdrung Bon with Drubdra Khenpo Rinpoche
DESCRIPTION:The Four Wheels of Yungdrung Bon\nand Dzogchen Meditation\nRetreat with Drubdra Khenpo Rinpoche\nAbbot of the Meditation School at Triten Norbutse\nThis teaching is the essential foundation for the methods and practices in Yungdrung Bön. Drubdra Khenpo Rinpoche will teach and guide us in this precious retreat. \nThe Four Wheels \nView from above: The philosophical view or wisdom perspective originates from the highest level – the ultimate truth\, emptiness\, or the nature of reality as seen by enlightened beings. \nConduct ascends from below: Our actual practice and behavior must start from the ground level and progress gradually upward. \nThe foundation is great compassion: Great compassion (mahākaruṇā) serves as the essential basis and motivation for the entire path. This is the heartfelt wish to free all sentient beings from suffering without exception. \nThe means are the ten pāramitās: The skillful methods for actualizing enlightenment are the ten pāramitās: generosity\, ethical discipline\, patience\, diligent effort\, meditative concentration\, wisdom\, skillful means\, aspiration/prayer\, spiritual power\, and primordial wisdom. These are the concrete practices that bridge our compassionate motivation with the ultimate realization. \nSchedule – Saturday and Sunday CST \n\n\n\nSession 1\n9:00-10:15 am\n\n\nBreak\n10:15-10:30 am\n\n\nSession 2\n10:30-11:30 am\n\n\n\n\nRetreat teachings and practices will be taught in English. \nLive translation will be available in Spanish\, Portuguese\, and Russian. \nWritten translations will be available in Spanish\, Portuguese\, and Russian. \n\nREGISTRATION: \nComplete payment below.  After payment is complete\, you will receive an email with links to the Zoom Registration and the Handouts.  All recordings will be made available to registered participants after the retreat is over at the same link as the Handouts. \nThere is early bird pricing available until noon the Saturday before the retreat. \nFinancial hardship need not prevent practitioners from attending Zoom teachings.  If you need assistance\, please inquire about available scholarships by emailing info@ligminchatexas.org.  This must be done at least 1 week prior to the retreat.\nWe have switched to using Zeffy.  This allows us to keep 100% of your donations and registrations\, as Zeffy does not charge us any payment processing fees.  They do\, however\, ask you to make a donation to them.  If you would prefer not to donate to Zeffy\, in the Donation Box at the bottom\, select “Other” from the Drop Down Box that is prefilled with a percentage and dollar amount \, and leave the Contribution Box empty. \n\n\nDrubdra Khenpo Tsultrim Tenzin Rinpoche  \n Drubdra Khenpo Tsultrim Tenzin was born in Yetha in the Hor region of East Tibet (Kham) in 1968 to a family of nomadic cattle herders. During this time\, Tsultrim Tenzin completed the traditional preliminary practices\, studied Tibetan grammar and poetry as well as various aspects of Bönpo philosophy. Tsultrim Tenzin served as umze\, chant master\, for three years in the Lungkar Monastery. \nAt the age of twenty-five\, he moved to Menri Monastery in Central Tibet where he studied with Pönlob Kalzang Nyima from whom he received teachings on Denö Dzö authored by Shardza Trashi Gyaltsen Rinpoche (1859-1935)\, and the A-Tri Bönpo Dzögchen manual\, and gained the experiential understanding of the Great Perfection. In 1993\, Tsultrim Tenzin made the arduous journey to Triten Norbutse Bönpo Monastery in Kathmandu\, Nepal\, to study intensively with his root Master Yongdzin Lopön Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche\, under whose guidance he deepened his knowledge of Sutra\, Tantra\, and Dzögchen. SUMMARY:Du Tri Su Training Program Part 2
DESCRIPTION:Du Tri Su Training Program \nFrom March 2025 through April 2027\, learn the Du Tri Su Drip Jong\, the Yungdrung Bön Ritual for escorting the consciousness of the deceased through the Bardo. This ritual is from the text: The Lamp that Dispels Darkness: The Practice Manual of the DU TRI SU that Purifies Defilements and Liberates All Beings from the Depths of Samsara \nThe Du Tri Su Drip Jong cycle is a powerful and skillful method of guiding the consciousness of the deceased and protecting that individual from the terrors of the bardo (after death state of the consciousness) experiences. This ritual practice and text stir the depths of samsara and can purify obstacles both for ourselves and for others\, the living and the dead. With proper care and respect\, it can even lead to the attainment of Buddhahood\, or total liberation. When done on behalf of the dead\, this ritual protects the consciousness from wandering in the the bardo realms of the intermediate state. These ancient practices and rituals were taught directly by Buddha Tonpa Shenrab\, and the tradition has been held and practiced continually until the present day. \nThis teaching and training of the Du Tri Su Drip Jong are important for Bön practitioners who would like more support for their own preparations for dying\, as well as for students who want to benefit those who have died. \nOverview\nThis training program will include five 5-day retreats; three retreats will be at Serenity Ridge\, and two will be online. There will also be monthly sessions on Zoom where Geshe Denma Gyaltsen and Khandro Tsering Wangmo Khymsar will be available to support students in between retreats. Join us for this special opportunity to learn a powerful ritual from the ancient Yungdrung Bön tradition. \nTranslation into Spanish: Live simultaneous translation into Spanish will be available for all sessions. \nParticipants Will Learn\n\nThe meaning and purpose of this powerful ritual\nThe preparation for the DU TRI SU ritual making the required tormas (offerings)\nThe core prayers and their meaning\nHow to play the Tibetan ritual instruments used in this ritual\nHow to conduct the ritual and learn the melodies of each ritual section\n\n\nRegister and get more information at: \nhttps://ligmincha.org/centers-usa-serenityridge/\n\n \nGeshe Denma Gyaltsen is the resident lama of Ligmincha Texas. SUMMARY:Walking The Path Of Bön with Ani Sherab Wangmo
DESCRIPTION:WALKING THE PATH OF BÖN:\nFundamental Concepts for all Bön Practitioners\nANI SHERAB WANGMO\n \nWalking the Path of the Yungdrung Bön Tradition for Western students has different meanings for each one of us. As practitioners of this Tradition\, we listen to a Teaching with undivided attention\, then reflect on it\, and\, to be able to reach its meaning\, we practice it. In the West we have had many very precious teachings\, but there is a tendency to store them in our intellectual library without going through the other two fundamental steps; then\, the information remains fragmented. \nTo be able to walk the Path\, there is a map and we need to know the map to recognize the territory. This course is for all practitioners at all levels because the map is the same\, although its interpretation will be according to spiritual experience. As you well know\, this Tradition is an Ocean of Wisdom\, and as we walk the Path\, we learn that there is more and more depth to this Ocean. Therefore\, this course is useful to be able to associate more of what we have heard before in the Teachings and will be hearing over and over again; for beginners\, it is a good introduction to the scope of fundamental concepts a practitioner of Bön has to have. There are many maps; this is only one of them. \nFriday\, April 21st: \n4:30pm-6:00 pm CDT \nSaturday & Sunday\, April 22nd -23d: \n9:30-10:45 Session 1 \n10:45-11:00 Break \n11:00-12:15 Session 2 \n12:15-1:45 Break for Lunch \n1:45-03:15 Session 3 \n3:15-3:30 Break \n3:30-5:30 Session 4\n\nComplete payment through PayPal by clicking the Register button below. \nIMPORTANT:  After payment is completed\, you will be brought back to the Ligmincha Texas website.  This may take 10-40 seconds. \nIMPORTANT: If you are not returned to the Ligmincha Texas website after 1 minute\, go to the bottom of the page and click where it says “Return to Ligmincha Texas\, Inc.” \nIMPORTANT: If\, you are not returned to the Ligmincha Texas website and clicking “Return to Ligmincha Texas\, Inc.” does not work\, email us at info@ligminchatexas.org.  Do not wait until the day of the retreat. \nAfter returning to Ligmincha Texas website\,  you will 1) get the link to the Retreat Handouts (SAVE THE LINK)\, and 2) get the Zoom Registration Links. SUMMARY:Heart Drops of Kuntu Zangpo Retreat
DESCRIPTION:The Heart Drops of Kuntu Zangpo (Dharmakaya)\nGeshe Denma Gyaltsen\nMay 14-15\, 2022\n10:00-3:00\nThe nature of our own mind remains hidden behind clouds of thoughts and emotions until a master directly points out the source\, the essence\, the “heart drop.” This is the method of direct introduction to Dzögchen\, the highest and most subtle path of meditation in Bön. \nThe Heart Drops of Kuntu Zangpo (Dharmakaya) teachings were composed by Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen\, a Tibetan master who upon his death in 1935\, achieved the rainbow body\, in which his physical body dissolved into light. Shardza Rinpoche was one of the most influential Bön Teachers of his time. His works are used as textbooks in many Tibetan monasteries. Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche coordinated the translation of this text into English and has secured its’ unbroken lineage. \nIn these teachings\, practitioners learn a series of extraordinary practices that invoke direct perception of the nature of mind. Unlike methods that involve watching the breath or otherwise calming the thoughts\, these practices rely on body postures\, sounding of Tibetan syllables\, and simple visualizations to draw one quickly to an experience of one’s essence. It is a particularly powerful\, direct method of Dzögchen.  It encompasses 4 sections: Rushan; Trekchöd; Thögal; and the Bardo. \nThis is a foundational practice to reach our inner Kuntu Zangpo\, our inner buddha nature. Through practice we are transforming our three doors of body\, speech\, and mind into pure body\, pure speech\, and pure mind. Our body transforms into the Trul-ku (Nirmanakaya) through the cleansing and purification of the body’s obscurations.  Our speech is purified into that of a pure melody and transforms into the Dzog-ku (Sambogakaya) through clearing the obscurations of speech.  By purifying the obscurations of our mind\, it transforms into the Bon-ku (Dharmakaya).\n\nRegistration is a 2 step process.  Step 1 is pay at PayPal.  Step 2 is register at Zoom.  It is important to complete both steps to assure access to the retreat.\nComplete payment through PayPal by clicking the Register button below. \nIMPORTANT:  After payment is completed\, you will be brought back to the Ligmincha Texas website.  This may take 10-40 seconds. \nIMPORTANT: If you are not returned to the Ligmincha Texas website after 1 minute\, go to the bottom of the page and click where it says “Return to Ligmincha Texas\, Inc.” \nAfter returning to Ligmincha Texas website\,  you will 1) get the link to the Retreat Handouts & Recordings (SAVE THE LINK)\, and 2) get the Zoom Registration Link. SUMMARY:The Ma Gyud: Teaching of the Bön Mother Tantra Part 1
DESCRIPTION:The Bön Mother Tantra is one of the first translated texts from Zhang Zhung into Tibetan. Before it was translated from Tibetan\, it was translated into five languages. Originally written earlier\, the text was hidden in the 8th century. It was discovered as a terma by Guru Nön tse in the 11th century. There are three parts of the Mother Tantra: 1) How to practice the development stage; 2) How to practice the generation and perfection stages; 3) How to practice the union of the generation and perfection stages. \nThe principal focus of the development stage is the Father Tantra. The focus of the generation and perfection stages is the Mother Tantra. The main focus of the union stage is the Son Tantra. Especially in the Mother Tantra\, we practice the visualization of the three jewels: Lama; the Yidam; and the Khandro (dakini). In this retreat\, Geshe Denma will teach the Mother Tantra sadhana\, the three visualizations\, and the mudras. \nThe Ma Gyud is a tantric\, transformation practice. If we practice the Ma Gyud daily\, we will develop special powers of inner wisdom.  Tantra is a secret practice. The Mother Tantra deity was one of the yidams of the second king of Tibet\, Mu Tri Tsenpo. He had special power which he kept secret for himself as the king. His power decreased after the practice was made secret\, and he realized he had the capacity to teach and not to keep it secret anymore.  His power increased after this realization. He taught to those who had the capacity to receive the teaching. \nAll are welcome to attend this precious retreat with Geshe Denma. \nHe trusts that all have the capacity to receive this special\, powerful teaching. \nSchedule \nSATURDAY and SUNDAY\nCentral Daylight Time CDT \n Session 1 10:00–11:15 am\nSession 2 11:30 – 12:30 pm \nMeal Break\nSession 3 1:30 – 3:00 pm\n \n \n \n \nRegistration \n \n \n	\nRegistration is a 2 step process. This may take 10-20 seconds. \nIMPORTANT: If you are not returned to the Ligmincha Texas website\, go to the bottom of the page and click where it says “Return to Ligmincha Texas\, Inc.” \nAfter returning to Ligmincha Texas website\,  you will 1) get the link to the Retreat Handouts & Recordings (SAVE THE LINK)\, and 2) get the Zoom Registration Link. SUMMARY:Ligmincha Texas Healing Practice for World Peace
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 has completely changed the world. This past year has been difficult and most challenging. Now\, it is starting to get better and better. \nWe can fight the virus by continuing to follow COVID-19 precautions (e.g. wearing a mask\, physical distancing\, getting a vaccine)\, doing prayers\, and practicing to meet this challenging time. If we do this\, it will end soon. \nWe cannot blame anyone for the virus. No one has made this virus\, this kind of disease comes and goes. In the Buddhist text\, it says there are 404 types of diseases and 80\,000 obstacles by the gek. We need to eliminate these obstacles and diseases by prayer. Many people may experience anxiety and anger that can automatically come out when under duress. When this happens\, it is important that we do not blame anyone. By doing this\, it becomes worse. \nNow\, we will practice peace in the world to make life happier for all at this time. Ligmincha Texas will do prayers for World Peace and Healing for everyone by practicing the Sipe Gyalmo Healing Practice (Queen of Existence) and The Precious Garland for those who have died from racial violence and COVID-19. \nBring mala and a bottle of water. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:LIGMINCHA TEXAS PREPARES FOR LOSAR\, YEAR OF THE IRON OX 2021
DESCRIPTION:Losar\, which in Tibetan means “new year\,” is celebrated widely by Tibetans and Tibetan Bön and Buddhist centers throughout the world. This is the time to reflect on the passing of the old year and face the possibilities of the New Year.  Losar will be celebrated on Saturday\, February 13\, 2021\, at 8:00 am CST.  This will be held jointly with Ligmincha International and with Ligmincha Texas.  Please join us via Zoom for our Losar activities. \nGeshe Denma Gyaltsen will offer a Sang Chod ritual from Galveston\, Texas at the home of Jackie Cole. \nTo register for Ligmincha International’s free 3-day Losar events on February 12-14\, 2021 here: \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIqd-yhqDsrG9a6IvYrUlwbjx1YPkeSlvvD \nWednesday\, February 10\, 2021 Preparation before Losar \nFrom our homes in preparation for Losar\, it is the Tibetan tradition to clean before the New Year.  This is the day we need to cleanse externally and clean our house\, office\, car\, and finish projects\, and generally prepare for a clean start in the next year. \nWe will use this opportunity to cleanse ourselves spiritually\, to be ready for the New Year. In the evening\, write on a piece of paper\, anything that has been challenging\, difficult for you\, or obstacles you have encountered\, problematic relationships\, emotional difficulties\, and/or health issues from the past male Iron Mouse year. Then recite one mala of the Du Tri Su mantra and throw the piece of paper in the garbage. We will think about releasing all the negative things that happened in the Iron Mouse year 2020 so they will not be carried into the new female Iron Ox year 2021. \nMantra of Purification \nA KAR A ME DU TRI SU NAG PO ZHI ZHI MAL MAL SO HA  \n \nFriday\, February 12\, 2021 Individual Losar celebration at home  \nBecause of the pandemic\, we will not be gathering at the center and we will celebrate Losar from our homes. Traditionally\, this is a family gathering day. Celebrate Losar together with your family\, if this is not possible\, you can bestow good wishes to your family members on this day.  In the morning\, when you wake up\, make a water offering of the seven bowls of water\, light one candle\, incense\, and recite Guru Yoga\, Refuge\, Bodhicitta\, and Yeshe Walmo prayers. Then rest and sit in the Natural State of Mind for as long as it is fresh. End your practice by reciting the Dedication of Merit prayer. \nTraditionally\, a Chemar ritual would be offered. This is an auspicious ceremony using barley flour called tsampa mixed with butter in a special wooden container. \nThis year\, instead\, put any type of flour in a small bowl and on top of the flour put a small piece of butter and place the bowl on your altar. After morning prayers and meditation\, then take a pinch of the flour\, offer it lightly three times\, touch it to the tongue\, and then say the traditional auspicious happiness greeting. \nTashi Delek phun sum tsok\, \nA ma bak dro ku kham sang\, \nTen du de wa to par shog. \nGongni Gongdu Phelwar Shog. \nThis means\,  \nAuspicious goodness and abundance to you\, \nMay you be healthy and peaceful\,  \nMay you find eternal peace and happiness\,  \nAnd may your pursuit of peace and happiness flourish day by day. \nThe first offering of money of the year can be made to the altar and the Buddhas.  Everyone will wish one another a happy new year and good fortune\, health\, and all good things.  Geshe la advises us to say only positive comments all day and not to engage in negative actions of body\, speech or mind\, and to continue to do prayers. Traditionally\, if you have new prayer flags you can hang them in your home on the first day of Losar. \nHappy New Tibetan Year of the Iron Ox. \nLosar Tashi Delek!\n \n \n \n \nText Divider \n \n \n	\n \nGeshe Denma Gyaltsen is the resident lama of Ligmincha Texas. SUMMARY:Lightning Flash Bardo Part 2 and Rainbow Phowa Teaching and Transmission
DESCRIPTION:In this two-day retreat\, Geshe Denma Gyaltsen will: \nProvide more details from Part 1 of the The Lightning Flash of the Dzogchen View of the Bardo teaching. This Dzogchen text\, Tawa Tok Bap\, was ear transmitted to Dziwo Rigpa Rangshar.\nProvide a detailed description of the Bardo thangka.\nProvide us with teaching on the Rainbow Phowa\, guide us in practice\, and give transmission.\nGive us homework and a practice recording on our website to complete on a daily basis until we meet again for Part 3. \nIt is not necessary to have attended Part 1 to join us in this retreat. \nRainbow Phowa was ear-transmitted to the 22nd Menri Trizen Sherab Gongyal by the Second Buddha\, Nyamme Sherab Gyaltsen\, who had passed away. Suddenly in the sky inside a rainbow the three kayas appeared. Dharmakaya Kuntu Zangpo appeared at the top of the rainbow. Then lower the Wisdom Diety Mawe Senge appeared as Sambogakaya. Below that in the rainbow Nirmanakaya appeared as Nyamme Sherab Gyaltsen\, who guided the 22nd Menri Abbot to do phowa in this way. \nIn a general sense\, phowa refers to “transfer of consciousness.” When used to help the dying or already dead being\, this practice refers to easing the transfer of consciousness from the current situation to the next. The purpose is to help the being to release the body\, the possessions\, the attachments to others and to family\, and the positive and negative emotions\, thoughts and memories. The being engages in the process of dying and releasing with comfort and confidence. Phowa can be done for others or for yourself. This teaching by Geshe Denma is phowa for yourself. \nThe Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyü (Zhang-Zhung Oral Transmission Lineage of Dzogchen) says the following: \nThe rider which is the mind of innate awareness\,\nIs mounted on the horse of mindfulness.\nUnimpededly propelled by the wings of the wind\,\nIt moves through the path of the bodhicitta central channel and\nArrives at the secret door of bliss at the crown. \nPhowa is important for us to learn and practice in this lifetime. The text mentions that if we practice phowa\, we will not be born in the lower realms. \n***Part 3 Conclusion of The Rainbow Phowa is scheduled for February 20\, 2021 \nSchedule for Part 2 \nSATURDAY\, January 16\, 2021 \nCentral Standard Time CST \nSession 1 10:00–11:15 am \nSession 2 11:30 – 12:30 pm \nMeal Break \nSession 3 1:30 – 3:00 pm \nSUNDAY\, January 17\, 2021 \nCentral Standard Time CST \nSession 1 10:00–11:15 am \nSession 2 11:30 – 12:30 pm \nMeal Break \nSession 3 1:30 – 3:00 pm \nhttps://www.timeanddate.com/\n \n \n \n \nRegistration \n \n \n	\nRegistration is a 2 step process.  It is important to complete both steps to assure access to the retreat.\nComplete payment through PayPal by clicking this button. \nRegister \nIMPORTANT:  After payment is completed\, you will be brought back to the Ligmincha Texas website.  Complete Zoom registration on the page you are returned to after you complete payment.  \nOnce you are registered\, a confirmation email will be sent to you by Zoom that includes your personal link to join the retreat. \nMake sure to pay and complete your Zoom registration by Thursday\, January 14th so we can assure that you receive the practice materials and schedule before the retreat. \nDownload the free Zoom app in advance of the retreat by going to \nhttps://zoom.us/download \nRetreat teachings and practices will be taught in English.
