DESCRIPTION:Sang Chöd Smoke Offering Ceremony\nGalveston\, TX \nSaturday\, March 1\, 2025 \n11:00 am CST in person only \nGeshe Denma will lead a Sang Chöd smoke offering ceremony in Galveston. He will release bait fish into the bayou\, a joyous ritual to give new life to sentient beings and accumulate positive karma.  We do this ritual and dedicate the merit to the long life and health of beloved HE Yongdzin Rinpoche.  He is 100 years old.  \nWe will recite prayers to all the yidams and protector deities and ask for their protection for all practitioners and sentient beings. This ceremony pacifies all obstacles and causes of disharmony into the vastness of outer\, inner\, and secret space and is conducted outside. DESCRIPTION:Ligmincha Texas Celebrates Losar 2024\nYear of the Wood Dragon \nThis year we will celebrate with our Ligmincha International sangha. Ligmincha Texas welcomes you to participate in all of these events\, and we wish you a very Happy New Tibetan Year of the Wood Dragon. Please join us. \nLosar Tashi Delek 2024! \nLosar\, which in Tibetan means ‘’new year\,” is celebrated widely by Tibetans and Tibetan Bön and Buddhist centers throughout the world. This is the time to reflect on the passing of the old year and face the possibilities of the New Year. Losar will be celebrated by Ligmincha International centers worldwide. Traditionally\, the first day of Losar begins three days of celebration. For those living near Ligmincha Texas\, here are the Losar activities. Everyone may participate in the Sang Chod ceremony via Zoom and/or in-person in Galveston. \n\nSaturday\, February 10\, 2024 \nLosar in Galveston\, Texas \n11:30am CST in person \nGeshe Denma will open celebration with releasing bait fish into the bayou\, a joyous ritual to give new life to sentient beings and accumulate positive karma.  We do this ritual and dedicate the merit to the long life and health of beloved HE Yongdzin Rinpoche.  He is 99 years old. \n  \n12:30 pm CST by Zoom and in person \nGeshe Denma will lead a Sang Chod smoke offering ceremony in conjunction with Ligmincha International.  This event is free and open to all on Zoom. DESCRIPTION:This event has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.  The new day and time will be posted to our website when it is confirmed.  We apologize for the late notice. \nLigmincha Texas\n		\n							\n						\n				\nCelebration ritual offered by Geshe Denma Gyaltsen\, Resident Lama\n			\n			\n					\n	\n \nGeshe Denma Gyaltsen is the resident lama of Ligmincha Texas. He  arrived in Houston in January 2016 to serve as Ligmincha Texas’s first resident lama. \nGeshe Denma was born in northern Nepal. His father brought him to Menri Monastery\, India\, regarded as the mother Bon monastery in exile\, in 1981 to begin his program of study toward the Geshe degree. He received all the Bon teachings\, initiations and transmissions in sutra\, tantra and dzogchen from His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche\, the 33rd Menri Trizin\, and His Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. \nWhen he became a senior student\, he was asked to teach philosophy to younger students. He successfully completed this degree program in 1996 and was awarded the Geshe certificate\, which is considered equivalent to a Ph.D. in Bön Buddhist philosophy and religion. \nGeshe Denma was an accomplished teacher and in 1998 was appointed\, with the approval of the Tibetan government in exile\, first abbot of Zhu Rishing Yungdrung Kundak-Ling Monastery\, a Bon Monastery in Sikkim\, India by His Holiness. He served two terms in this capacity until 2003. In addition\, from the time he graduated until 2008\, Geshe Denma also was active in assisting Geshe Nyima Dakpa with the Bon Children’s Home\, which houses many children in Dolanji\, India\, providing them with food\, healthcare and free education.
