SUMMARY:Lightning Flash Bardo Part 2 and Rainbow Phowa Teaching and Transmission
DESCRIPTION:In this two-day retreat\, Geshe Denma Gyaltsen will: \nProvide more details from Part 1 of the The Lightning Flash of the Dzogchen View of the Bardo teaching. This Dzogchen text\, Tawa Tok Bap\, was ear transmitted to Dziwo Rigpa Rangshar.\nProvide a detailed description of the Bardo thangka.\nProvide us with teaching on the Rainbow Phowa\, guide us in practice\, and give transmission.\nGive us homework and a practice recording on our website to complete on a daily basis until we meet again for Part 3. \nIt is not necessary to have attended Part 1 to join us in this retreat. \nRainbow Phowa was ear-transmitted to the 22nd Menri Trizen Sherab Gongyal by the Second Buddha\, Nyamme Sherab Gyaltsen\, who had passed away. Suddenly in the sky inside a rainbow the three kayas appeared. Dharmakaya Kuntu Zangpo appeared at the top of the rainbow. Then lower the Wisdom Diety Mawe Senge appeared as Sambogakaya. Below that in the rainbow Nirmanakaya appeared as Nyamme Sherab Gyaltsen\, who guided the 22nd Menri Abbot to do phowa in this way. \nIn a general sense\, phowa refers to “transfer of consciousness.” When used to help the dying or already dead being\, this practice refers to easing the transfer of consciousness from the current situation to the next. The purpose is to help the being to release the body\, the possessions\, the attachments to others and to family\, and the positive and negative emotions\, thoughts and memories. The being engages in the process of dying and releasing with comfort and confidence. Phowa can be done for others or for yourself. This teaching by Geshe Denma is phowa for yourself. \nThe Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyü (Zhang-Zhung Oral Transmission Lineage of Dzogchen) says the following: \nThe rider which is the mind of innate awareness\,\nIs mounted on the horse of mindfulness.\nUnimpededly propelled by the wings of the wind\,\nIt moves through the path of the bodhicitta central channel and\nArrives at the secret door of bliss at the crown. \nPhowa is important for us to learn and practice in this lifetime. The text mentions that if we practice phowa\, we will not be born in the lower realms. \n***Part 3 Conclusion of The Rainbow Phowa is scheduled for February 20\, 2021 \nSchedule for Part 2 \nSATURDAY\, January 16\, 2021 \nCentral Standard Time CST \nSession 1 10:00–11:15 am \nSession 2 11:30 – 12:30 pm \nMeal Break \nSession 3 1:30 – 3:00 pm \nSUNDAY\, January 17\, 2021 \nCentral Standard Time CST \nSession 1 10:00–11:15 am \nSession 2 11:30 – 12:30 pm \nMeal Break \nSession 3 1:30 – 3:00 pm \nhttps://www.timeanddate.com/\n \n \n \n \nRegistration \n \n \n	\nRegistration is a 2 step process.  It is important to complete both steps to assure access to the retreat.\nComplete payment through PayPal by clicking this button. \nRegister \nIMPORTANT:  After payment is completed\, you will be brought back to the Ligmincha Texas website.  Complete Zoom registration on the page you are returned to after you complete payment.  \nOnce you are registered\, a confirmation email will be sent to you by Zoom that includes your personal link to join the retreat. \nMake sure to pay and complete your Zoom registration by Thursday\, January 14th so we can assure that you receive the practice materials and schedule before the retreat. \nDownload the free Zoom app in advance of the retreat by going to \nhttps://zoom.us/download \nRetreat teachings and practices will be taught in English. SUMMARY:The Lightning Flash of the Dzögchen View
DESCRIPTION:Recognizing the Nine Intermediate States of the Bardo\nSaturday\, October 31\, 2020 – Sunday\, November 1\, 2020\nGeshe Denma will teach us on the rarely taught text dzögchen tawa tok bap on the nine Bardos. Bardo teachings provide guidance on the stages of dying so we can transition with peace and consequently live with joy. \nThe Bardo is a Tibetan Buddhist concept roughly translated as “thrown between”. One of the Bardos arises between death and the next life. It is said to be much like dream (another form of Bardo)\, sleep\, and deep meditative states when the edges of reality blur. Fear of the unknown and our attachment to people and possessions can result in difficulties at the moment of death or even in the thought of death. Bardo teachings create an opportunity to learn more about how to prepare for death by seeing it as a natural process within the cycle of life. \nJoin us for a weekend with Geshe Denma Gyaltsen\, who will gently continue to explain how we can understand this transition from a Bön Buddhist perspective. \nRetreat teachings and practices will be taught in English. Live translation is available in Spanish\, Portuguese\, Polish and Russian.\n \n \n \n \nRetreat Schedule\n \n \n \n	\nSATURDAY\, October 31\, 2020\nCentral Daylight Time CDT \nSession 1 10:00 – 11:15 am\nSession 2 11:30 – 12:30 pm\nMeal Break\nSession 3 1:30 – 3:00 pm \nSUNDAY\, November 1\, 2020\n***Note CHANGE to Central Standard Time CST*** \nSession 1 10:00 – 11:15 am\nSession 2 11:30 – 12:30 pm\nMeal Break\nSession 3 1:30 – 3:00 pm \nhttps://www.timeanddate.com/\n \n \n \n \nRegistration \n \n \n	\nRegistration is a 2 step process.  You must complete both steps. \n\nComplete payment through PayPal by clicking this button.  IMPORTANT:  After payment is completed\, wait until you are brought back to the Ligmincha Texas website.\nComplete Zoom registration on the page you are returned to after you complete payment.  Once you are registered\, a confirmation email will be sent to you by Zoom that includes your personal link to join the retreat.\n\nMake sure to pay and complete your Zoom registration by Thursday\, October 29th so we can assure that you receive the practice materials and schedule before the retreat. \nDownload the free Zoom app in advance of the retreat by going to https://zoom.us/download. \nRetreat teachings and practices will be taught in English. SUMMARY:Zhiné: Calm Abiding to Develop Concentration by Focusing and Calming Your Mind during this Pandemic
DESCRIPTION:A Zoom Weekend Retreat\nGeshe Denma Gyaltsen\, Resident Lama\n\nIn today’s world of uncertainty and conflicting emotions\, stability of the mind helps us to sustain a sense of inner calm and peace. With practice\, we can learn to focus our attention in the stillness\, silence\, and spaciousness of being. Resting in awareness slows our breath and lowers our internal activation in response to outer events\, a help in challenging times. This meditation has a serene and sustaining quality that is experienced in our core. The practitioner becomes\, centered\, alert\, connected\, and confident.\nLigmincha Texas invites you to join us in a peaceful zoom teaching retreat by Geshe Denma Gyaltsen on Saturday and Sunday\, July 25 and 26\, 2020\, from 10am to 5pm\, Central Daylight Time.\nZhiné\, or Calm Abiding\, is traditionally introduced after learning the preliminary practices of the Ngöndro\, or the Foundational practices from the ancient Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyud Cycle of Bön Tibetan teachings. This weekend\, Geshe Denma will spend time with students explaining and strengthening the qualities of one-pointed focus and concentration. Join us to learn and welcome open awareness through the practice of Calm Abiding. \nAll are welcome. \nWe are sending everyone love\, prayers\, and healing energy through dedication to the welfare of all sentient beings. \n“Inner peace is the most important thing for our own well-being.”\nHis Holiness the Dalai Lama.\n \n \n \n \nRetreat Information \n \n \n	\nThe retreat will use Zoom.  Prior to the retreat\, you will need to download and install the Zoom client\, if you have not already\,  by going to https://zoom.us/download \nThe retreat will be recorded.  Recordings will be made available to registrants after the retreat is finished. \nThe retreat will be in English and will not have live translations.\n \n \n \n \nRegistration Information \n \n \n	\nTo register:\n\nPlease click the button below\, which will take you to PayPal to complete payment.\nBased on financial ability\, registrants can choose the following options: $75\, $100 and $125.  Financial hardship should not prevent a practitioner from attending teachings.   If none of the three payment options is appropriate for your situation\, please pay whatever you wish buy typing that amount in the box that says “Other Amount”.\nAfter completing payment at PayPal\, you will be given a link to register for the Zoom event.  You must complete this Zoom registration prior to the day of the event.\n\nPlease contact us at info@ligminchatexas.org if you have any questions.\n\n \nGeshe Denma Gyaltsen is the resident lama of Ligmincha Texas. He arrived in Houston in January 2016 to serve as Ligmincha Texas’s first resident lama. \nGeshe Denma was born in northern Nepal. His father brought him to Menri Monastery\, India\, regarded as the mother Bon monastery in exile\, in 1981 to begin his program of study toward the Geshe degree. He received all the Bon teachings\, initiations and transmissions in sutra\, tantra and dzogchen from His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche\, the 33rd Menri Trizin\, and His Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. \nWhen he became a senior student\, he was asked to teach philosophy to younger students. He successfully completed this degree program in 1996 and was awarded the Geshe certificate\, which is considered equivalent to a Ph.D. in Bön Buddhist philosophy and religion. \nGeshe Denma was an accomplished teacher and in 1998 was appointed\, with the approval of the Tibetan government in exile\, first abbot of Zhu Rishing Yungdrung Kundak-Ling Monastery\, a Bon Monastery in Sikkim\, India by His Holiness. SUMMARY:The Power of Mantra: A Om Hung
DESCRIPTION:An open mind and compassionate heart are important and necessary virtues to lead a good life. But we are often bound and limited by our prejudices\, fears\, and divisions. Awareness is the key that frees us and allows our positive qualities to be expressed. Awareness is essential for spiritual transformation. When we open our body\, speech\, and mind with awareness\, our inherent capacity for love is found to be already present. In the Bön tradition of Tibet\, sacred sound is used as a skillful means to release tensions and blockages in our body\, free our speech of divisions of exclusion and bias\, and activate the compassionate qualities of an open heart. Through engaging the sacred syllables of A\, OM\, and HUNG\, we employ the power of mantra to awaken the sacred dimension of our body\, speech\, and mind and transform our life for the benefit of ourselves and others.   \nThis teaching is especially precious as Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche will not be teaching in 2021.  Rinpoche is taking a year-long sabbatical and will return to teaching in 2022. You won’t want to miss this opportunity! \nLocation \nThe Jung Center Houston\n \nhttps://junghouston.org/ \n\n(click on red button “search programs”) \nRegister through the links provided above. \nFinancial hardship alone should not prevent a practitioner from attending teachings.\nSpecial payment plans are available.\nPlease contact us at info@ligminchatexas.org\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n \nFounder and spiritual director of Ligmincha International\, Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche is a respected and beloved teacher and meditation master in the Bön Buddhist tradition of Tibet.  He has students in more than 25 countries\, teaches around the world and reaches thousands of students through his online programs. \nTrained as a Bön monk\, Rinpoche now lives as a householder\, allowing him to more fully relate to the needs and concerns of his students.  Known for the depth of his wisdom and his unshakeable commitment to helping students recognize their true nature\, he is the author of many books and online courses. \nFluent in English\, Tenzin Rinpoche teaches in a warm and engaging style\, frequently drawing on examples from contemporary culture to bring the ancient Bön teachings to life\, making them relevant to the lives of modern people and a powerful basis for spiritual growth. He is equally at home teaching online and in a retreat setting. \nRinpoche regularly teaches in Europe\, the United States\, Mexico\, Central and South America\, and Asia. Information about worldwide locations may be found here. \nHe also is a leader in using technology to teach dharma. Rinpoche has offered free live webcasts since 2009\, including through his Facebook page since 2016. Beginning in 2010 he has offered a variety of online courses\, through both Ligmincha Learning and GlideWing Productions. With the support of his global volunteer base\, Rinpoche’s teachings are available in as many as 18 different languages through both real-time translation and subtitles. Find out more about his live events here. Hundreds of hours of previously recorded teachings can be found on Ligmincha’s YouTube channel and Ocean of Wisdom. \nRecognizing the diverse needs of students\, Rinpoche has created two sister organizations to Ligmincha: The 3 Doors and Lishu Institute. The 3 Doors is an international organization that allows participants from all walks of life to go deep into the essence of the teachings. Its programs use meditation and community to support self-discovery\, personal transformation\, and actions that benefit others. Lishu Institute\, a residential education and retreat center in India\, offers intensive study and practice of the Bön tradition. Its programs run from two weeks to two months in length\, with some participants choosing extended study.

SUMMARY:Opening the Door to Bön - the Warrior Syllables
DESCRIPTION:The Five Warrior Syllables (Tibetan Sound Healing) \n \n \n	\nThe sacred sounds of the Five Warrior Syllables are a part of the Bön healing tradition and have been handed down from master to student for generations. In recent years\, these ancient practices have been brought to life in the west through the tireless teaching and writing of Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche\, author of Tibetan Sound Healing. The Five Warrior Syllables Practice engages the power of sound and silence to help heal physical illness\, clear psychological and energetic disturbances\, and support the spiritual practitioner to abide with clear and open awareness. \nIn our Sunday practice session\, led by Leslie Abuso\, we will spend time with all five syllables. There will be instruction\, practice and time for questions and discussion. The practice is open to all levels of practitioner. There is no fee but donations to the Ligmincha Texas Center are greatly appreciated. \n“The practice of the Five Warrior Syllables is a skillful means that can support us to release our negative and limiting behavioral patterns of body\, speech and mind.” (from “Tibetan Sound Healing” Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche.) \nThere is no need to register but it is helpful if you RSVP to Leslie at 713-444-3457. \nThere is a bookstore onsite and this book is available for purchase.
