He arrived in Houston in January 2016 to serve as Ligmincha Texas’s first resident lama. \nGeshe Denma was born in northern Nepal. His father brought him to Menri Monastery\, India\, regarded as the mother Bon monastery in exile\, in 1981 to begin his program of study toward the Geshe degree. He received all the Bon teachings\, initiations and transmissions in sutra\, tantra and dzogchen from His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche\, the 33rd Menri Trizin\, and His Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. \nWhen he became a senior student\, he was asked to teach philosophy to younger students. He successfully completed this degree program in 1996 and was awarded the Geshe certificate\, which is considered equivalent to a Ph.D. in Bön Buddhist philosophy and religion. \nGeshe Denma was an accomplished teacher and in 1998 was appointed\, with the approval of the Tibetan government in exile\, first abbot of Zhu Rishing Yungdrung Kundak-Ling Monastery\, a Bon Monastery in Sikkim\, India by His Holiness. DESCRIPTION:Du Tri Su Training Program \nFrom March 2025 through April 2027\, learn the Du Tri Su Drip Jong\, the Yungdrung Bön Ritual for escorting the consciousness of the deceased through the Bardo. This ritual is from the text: The Lamp that Dispels Darkness: The Practice Manual of the DU TRI SU that Purifies Defilements and Liberates All Beings from the Depths of Samsara \nThe Du Tri Su Drip Jong cycle is a powerful and skillful method of guiding the consciousness of the deceased and protecting that individual from the terrors of the bardo (after death state of the consciousness) experiences. This ritual practice and text stir the depths of samsara and can purify obstacles both for ourselves and for others\, the living and the dead. With proper care and respect\, it can even lead to the attainment of Buddhahood\, or total liberation. When done on behalf of the dead\, this ritual protects the consciousness from wandering in the the bardo realms of the intermediate state. These ancient practices and rituals were taught directly by Buddha Tonpa Shenrab\, and the tradition has been held and practiced continually until the present day. \nThis teaching and training of the Du Tri Su Drip Jong are important for Bön practitioners who would like more support for their own preparations for dying\, as well as for students who want to benefit those who have died. \nOverview\nThis training program will include five 5-day retreats; three retreats will be at Serenity Ridge\, and two will be online. DESCRIPTION:Celebration of Nyamme Sherab Gyaltsen’s Birthday\nLigmincha Texas Center \nWednesday\, March 5\, 2025 \n6:00 pm CST in person only \nGeshe Denma will lead this celebration instead of our regular practice. \n Celebrate the birthday of the second Buddha of Yungdrung Bön\, Nyamme Sherap Gyaltsen (1356–1415)\, the first abbot and founder of Menri Monastery\, the mother monastery of Bön in Tibet. Geshe Denma will lead us in a practice with a special prayer to Nyamme Sherap Gyaltsen. On this auspicious day\, each person will light a candle and pray the short and long invocation of Nyamme Sherap Gyaltsen. \nNyamme Sherab Gyalsten was known as a great reformer and reinvigorated the Bönpo monastic tradition\, causing many monasteries to flourish. Nyamme Sherab Gyaltsen was also the first master to collect and hold all the transmissions and empowerments of all the Bön lineages. All of these transmissions have continued to be held by each of the successive Abbots of Menri\, and over time\, the Abbot of Menri came to be regarded as the head of the Bön religion.

All are welcome to come and bring anyone interested in this beautiful experience. \nBefore the Ransom Ceremony\, in anticipation of the new year\, we need to cleanse externally\, and therefore\, we clean our house\, office\, car\, and finish projects. Take this time to prepare generally for a clean start in the next year\, leaving all negativities and unfinished business from the old year. Bring a written ransom wish to discard negativities/obstacles in your life from 2024.  We will also have paper available at the center.

DESCRIPTION:Experiential Transmission of Dru Gyalwa Yungdrung:\nThe Ancillary Instruction of the Boundless View\,\nPart 1 – Ngondro\nThe Dru Gyalwai Chag Tri is the collection of the text composed by Dru Gyalwa Yungdrung\, the great 13th century master who lived from 1242-1290. Dru Gyalwa Yungdrung is the 57th lineage holder of the Oral Transmission of the Zhang Zhung Nyan Gyü and is also known as Dru Gyalwa. \nHe composed a practice manual Chag Tri at the Yeru Wensakha monastery. The propagation of the unified Oral Transmission of Zhang Zhung continued at Yeru Wensakha monastery for another hundred years to Rinchen Lodro during which time the monastery was destroyed by a flood in 1386. \nDzögchen\, also known as the “great perfection” or “great completion\,” is considered the path of self-liberation and the highest form of teaching and practice in the Bon Buddhist tradition. For practitioners with the capacity\, it offers the potential for liberation during a single lifetime and within a single body. Until the late 20th century these ancient teachings were kept secret and offered to very few students of any generation. For all these reasons\, attending the teachings can be seen as a precious opportunity for students of Tibetan Bön Buddhism. \nThe Experiential Transmission of Zhang Zhung (Zhang Zhung Nyam Gyu)\, is a cycle of dzögchen teachings from the Zhang Zhung Nyan Gyud lineage\, one of the three main dzoöchen lineages of the Bön Buddhist tradition. The Dru Gyalwai Chag Tri is a preliminary portion of the Zhang Zhung Nyam Gyu. \nPart 1: The Ngöndro.\nThe ngöndro of the Experiential Transmission of Zhang Zhung are the foundational practices and the entrance to this cycle of Tibetan Bön dzögchen teachings. Attending a Part 1 Ngöndro retreat is a prerequisite for further study of the Experiential Transmission of Zhang Zhung. \nThe ngöndro teachings\, a set of nine practices\, offer complete instructions for taming\, purifying\, and perfecting the suffering mind. Although the practices that make up the ngöndro are called preliminary or foundational practices\, many practitioners adopt them as their main practice and complete the nine parts several times over the course of a lifetime. Within each of these beautiful\nand powerful practices is contained the entire path to liberation. He arrived in Houston in January 2016 to serve as Ligmincha Texas’s first resident lama. \nGeshe Denma was born in northern Nepal. His father brought him to Menri Monastery\, India\, regarded as the mother Bon monastery in exile\, in 1981 to begin his program of study toward the Geshe degree. He received all the Bon teachings\, initiations and transmissions in sutra\, tantra and dzogchen from His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche\, the 33rd Menri Trizin\, and His Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. \nWhen he became a senior student\, he was asked to teach philosophy to younger students. He successfully completed this degree program in 1996 and was awarded the Geshe certificate\, which is considered equivalent to a Ph.D. in Bön Buddhist philosophy and religion. \nGeshe Denma was an accomplished teacher and in 1998 was appointed\, with the approval of the Tibetan government in exile\, first abbot of Zhu Rishing Yungdrung Kundak-Ling Monastery\, a Bon Monastery in Sikkim\, India by His Holiness. He served two terms in this capacity until 2003. In addition\, from the time he graduated until 2008\, Geshe Denma also was active in assisting Geshe Nyima Dakpa with the Bon Children’s Home\, which houses many children in Dolanji\, India\, providing them with food\, healthcare and free education.

DESCRIPTION:The Six Tibetan Yoga Foundational Movements\nfrom the Dzögchen\nOral Transmission of Zhang Zhung\nwith Alejandro Chaoul\nJune 1-2\, 2024\nTibetan Yoga (Trul khor) from the Dzögchen/Great Completeness Zhang Zhung Oral Transmission has passed on from teacher to disciple since the 8th century until today. Through this Tibetan Yoga (Trul khor\, magical movements) practices one can clear obstacles of body\, energy\, and mind\, to enhance one’s meditation and connect to one’s natural state of mind.\nThis weekend retreat/workshop will include meditation\, breathing\, and movement practices that help clear obstacles (geg sel)\, enhance your meditation (bog don)\, and learn ways to incorporate them into your daily life.  We will practice six magical movements that include a foundational movement from the root text\, followed by the five magical movements from Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen’s commentary in the 19th-20th century. He is also an adjunct faculty member at The University of Texas’ McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics\, where he teaches medical students in the areas of spirituality\, complementary and integrative medicine\, and end-of-life care. In addition he is an Instructor at Rice University’s Glasscock School of Continuing Studies Master of Liberal Studies program and an at The University of Maryland\, Baltimore\, Masters in Integrative Medicine. \nIn addition\, he is an advisor to The Rothko Chapel and past board member of The Boniuk Center for Religious Tolerance at Rice University\, and founding member of Compassionate Houston. His research and publications focus on mind-body practices in integrative care\, examining how these practices can reduce chronic stress\, anxiety and sleep disorders and improve quality of life. He is the author of Chod Practice in the Bon Tradition (SnowLion\, 2009)\, Tibetan Yoga for Health and Wellbeing (Hay House\, 2018)\, and Tibetan Yoga: Magical Movements of Body\, Breath & Mind (Wisdom Publications\, 2021). This practice is the most well-known. Tséwang Rigdzin is the son of Drenpa Namkha\, born in the 8th century. Tséwang means “Power of Life” and Rigdzin is “the highest degree of knowledge and wisdom”. There are four kinds of Ridzin: 1) Fully Ripened; 2) Power over Longevity; 3) The Great Mudra; and 4) Spontaneously Accomplished. \nIn this weekend retreat\, Geshe Denma will teach The Power over Longevity section that includes visualization\, meaning\, and mantra\, and give transmission for this practice. This practice stands as a support for the practitioner to extend their life force\, develop their spiritual growth\, repair damage to their individual lifespan by removing obstacles\, and is a support for healing. \nThis text was discovered by Khöpo Lodro Tokme who was a famous 13th-century tertön (discovery master). This practice is the most well-known. Tséwang Rigdzin is the son of Drenpa Namkha\, born in the 8th century. Tséwang means “Power of Life” and Rigdzin is “the highest degree of knowledge and wisdom”. There are four kinds of Ridzin: 1) Fully Ripened; 2) Power over Longevity; 3) The Great Mudra; and 4) Spontaneously Accomplished. \nIn this weekend retreat\, Geshe Denma will teach The Power over Longevity section that includes visualization\, meaning\, and mantra\, and give transmission for this practice. This practice stands as a support for the practitioner to extend their life force\, develop their spiritual growth\, repair damage to their individual lifespan by removing obstacles\, and is a support for healing. \nThis text was discovered by Khöpo Lodro Tokme who was a famous 13th-century tertön (discovery master). He arrived in Houston in January 2016 to serve as Ligmincha Texas’s first resident lama. \nGeshe Denma was born in northern Nepal. His father brought him to Menri Monastery\, India\, regarded as the mother Bon monastery in exile\, in 1981 to begin his program of study toward the Geshe degree. He received all the Bon teachings\, initiations and transmissions in sutra\, tantra and dzogchen from His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche\, the 33rd Menri Trizin\, and His Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. \nWhen he became a senior student\, he was asked to teach philosophy to younger students. He successfully completed this degree program in 1996 and was awarded the Geshe certificate\, which is considered equivalent to a Ph.D. in Bön Buddhist philosophy and religion. \nGeshe Denma was an accomplished teacher and in 1998 was appointed\, with the approval of the Tibetan government in exile\, first abbot of Zhu Rishing Yungdrung Kundak-Ling Monastery\, a Bon Monastery in Sikkim\, India by His Holiness. He served two terms in this capacity until 2003. In addition\, from the time he graduated until 2008\, Geshe Denma also was active in assisting Geshe Nyima Dakpa with the Bon Children’s Home\, which houses many children in Dolanji\, India\, providing them with food\, healthcare and free education.

DESCRIPTION:Chöd: Cutting our Bondage in Samsara\nwith Ani Sherab Wangmo\nNovember 11-12\, 2023\nChöd is a sacred offering done at night\, and it is one of the Four Main Generosities we do during the day: Sang Chöd\, Chütor\, Sur Chöd\, and Chöd. \nThis sacred offering has no material supports as the other ones\, it relies only on your concentrated\, clear visualization\, and intention with the support of the instruments. Therefore\, its effectiveness is based on your practice\, on your grip on the damaru\, on the text recitation\, and on internalizing its meaning without distraction. If you are diligent\, you will be able to master the pace and beats of the damaru\, and later the sil nyen\, but the most important part is your undivided visualization. \nThe text is from Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen Rinpoche and it is called The Laughter of the Sky-Dancers or KHADRO’I GE-GYANG. \nDuring this brief retreat\, practitioners will understand the great potential that this sacred practice of Chöd has for their daily lives as well as for the advancement of their most profound spiritual practice. Chöd means literally to CUT. Through this sacred visualized offering we CUT the deep root of the main poison that keeps us suffering in Samsara: Ignorance. This practice requires concentration\, trust\, discipline\, and deep commitment. Her name means “the nun initiated in Wisdom” and her Getsukma vows were granted by His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima\, Abbot of the Menri monastery in India in 2007. \nBefore encountering the Yungdrung Bön Tradition of Tibet (in 1995)\, she followed a realized Vedantic master called Swami Chinmayananda for five years (1987-1992) till he passed away. She stayed six months in an ashram in the Himalayas to do meditation retreat and learn Sanskrit in 1989. She has also had several 6-month retreats in Triten Norbutse\, Nepal\, and Menri Monastery in India. \nHis Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche is her Root Lama since 1999 and she has followed His teachings since. She has also received teachings from Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche\, Lama Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche\, Khenpo Gelek Jimpa\, Geshe Chapur and other Geshes. In 2005 she went on a one-month pilgrimage to sacred Zhang Zhung sites mainly in lake Dangra Yumtso\, Namtso\, Triten Norbutse and Yungdrung Ling Monasteries. One of the most important results of this pilgrimage was that she brought back relics and sacred offerings of the sacred sites\, donations of Bonpo hermits\, and relics from Triten Norbutse monastery in Tibet to be placed in the hearts of five different stupas: two in Dolpo\, one in Torreón\, Mexico\, one in Valle de Bravo\, Mexico and the last one in Shenten Dargye Ling in France. \nIn different years she has had six month personal retreats in the main monasteries in exile with the founding Teachers and for 10 years she attends Dzogchen training from Yongdzin Rinpoche la in Shenten Dargye Ling\, France. Currently she lives in La Paz\, Mexico and coordinates one sangha there.

DESCRIPTION:The Two Essential Meditations of the Great Perfection\, Dzogchen: Trekchö and Tögal\nMenri Shedrup Khenpo Geshe Nyima Dhondup Rinpoche\nAbbott of Menri Monastery Dialectic School\nOctober 7-8\, 2023\nWith the practice of Dzögchen\, it is not necessary to rely upon practicing eon after eon\, because the kingdom of Küntu Zangpo can be seized in this single lifetime in this single\, physical body. For this\, there are two practices. The practice of trekchö and the practice of tögal. \nThe practice of trekchö\, which means “cutting through\,” “cutting through solidity” or “simultaneously cutting through solidity” is the practice of instant oneness. For example\, a single knife can simultaneously cut a hundred blades of grass. Or\, a hundred furrows can be leveled with a single rake. Or\, a single slingshot can flush out a hundred birds. Therefore\, having destroyed all 84\,000 afflictive emotions with a single practice of Dzögchen’s clear light\, the kingdom of Küntu Zangpo is seized through the rays of the practice of trekchö. \nThe practice of tögal means “leaping over\,” “crossing over\,” or “directly crossing over.” Having relied upon the four points of clear light\, the Bön essence\, which is beyond the workings of the conceptual mind\, is experienced. From the very beginning\, appearances of clear light are naked\, and tögal is the experience of directly perceiving them as they arise with the door of the far-reaching water-lamp (the eye). He received novice ordination from His Holiness the late 33rd Menri Trizin\, Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche\, and His Eminence Menri Ponlop Yangton Thinley Nyima Rinpoche in 1992 upon entering the Bon Dialectic School. This means that it was transmitted through hearing. In this case\, the transmission was given by a manifestation of Jamma\, Khandro Sherap Lo Pélma\, to Sonam Lodro Rinpoche when she actually appeared before him. \nSonam Lodro Rinpoche was the 22nd Throne Holder of Tashi Menri Monastery in Tibet. He was prophesized to be an emanation of the great yogi Tonggyung Tükchen\, who would work for the benefit of hundreds of thousands of beings. He was born in the Wood Dragon year of 1784 in Gyalrong\, Tibet. From an early age\, he learned reading\, writing\, rituals\, and the sciences from his uncle. After that\, he went to Tashi Menri Monastery for study and meditation. Relying upon both Yungdrung Wanggi Gyalpo and Sonam Phüntsok\, he perfected his extensive studies of philosophy\, science\, monastic discipline\, etc. From these two exalted ones\, he also received all of the vows in the uninterrupted lineage of the Second Buddha\, His Holiness 1st Menri Trizin Nyammé Sherap Gyaltsen Rinpoche. He kept all of his vows in a pure way and became a great leader for monastic discipline. During a pilgrimage to Gang Tise\, also known as Mount Kailash\, he spent time practicing and meditating and gained mastery over the four elements. \nHe was enthroned as the 22nd Menri Trizin in the Metal Horse year of 1810. From the beginning\, he had an extraordinary presence. He assumed the food and clothing of a beggar and compassionately gave whatever he had for the benefit of others. He repaired temples and constructed new ones for the benefit of countless people. Many exalted lamas and noblemen respected him and considered him a pure object of refuge. As he traveled throughout Amdo\, both Buddhist and Bönpo Geshes sought out his advice and instruction. At the time of his passing in 1835\, many wondrous signs were observed including five kinds of rainbows in the sky. \nThe seven categories for “The Heartdrop of Jamma are: 1) generating the mind of enlightenment\, 2) going for refuge\, 3) admitting and purifying wrongdoing\, 4) offering the mandala\, 5) prayer of supplication\, 6) inviting the deity\, and 7) praising the enlightened state. If you recite from the beginning until the end\, it is the same as reciting the Kangyur (canon of teachings of the buddha) one time. If you perform the yidam practice daily\, you will attain buddhahood in this single lifetime with this body. He arrived in Houston in January 2016 to serve as Ligmincha Texas’s first resident lama. \nGeshe Denma was born in northern Nepal. His father brought him to Menri Monastery\, India\, regarded as the mother Bon monastery in exile\, in 1981 to begin his program of study toward the Geshe degree. He received all the Bon teachings\, initiations and transmissions in sutra\, tantra and dzogchen from His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche\, the 33rd Menri Trizin\, and His Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. \nWhen he became a senior student\, he was asked to teach philosophy to younger students. He served two terms in this capacity until 2003. In addition\, from the time he graduated until 2008\, Geshe Denma also was active in assisting Geshe Nyima Dakpa with the Bon Children’s Home\, which houses many children in Dolanji\, India\, providing them with food\, healthcare and free education.

DESCRIPTION:The Heartdrop of Jamma\, The Loving Mother:\nAn Aural Transmission of the Khandro\nwith Geshe Denma Gyaltsen\nThis Heartdrop of Jamma\, or Jamma Nying Tik\, is classified as an aural transmission. This means that it was transmitted through hearing. In this case\, the transmission was given by a manifestation of Jamma\, Khandro Sherap Lo Pélma\, to Sonam Lodro Rinpoche when she actually appeared before him. \nSonam Lodro Rinpoche was the 22nd Throne Holder of Tashi Menri Monastery in Tibet. He was prophesized to be an emanation of the great yogi Tonggyung Tükchen\, who would work for the benefit of hundreds of thousands of beings. He was born in the Wood Dragon year of 1784 in Gyalrong\, Tibet. From an early age\, he learned reading\, writing\, rituals\, and the sciences from his uncle. After that\, he went to Tashi Menri Monastery for study and meditation. Relying upon both Yungdrung Wanggi Gyalpo and Sonam Phüntsok\, he perfected his extensive studies of philosophy\, science\, monastic discipline\, etc. From these two exalted ones\, he also received all of the vows in the uninterrupted lineage of the Second Buddha\, His Holiness 1st Menri Trizin Nyammé Sherap Gyaltsen Rinpoche. He kept all of his vows in a pure way and became a great leader for monastic discipline. During a pilgrimage to Gang Tise\, also known as Mount Kailash\, he spent time practicing and meditating and gained mastery over the four elements. \nHe was enthroned as the 22nd Menri Trizin in the Metal Horse year of 1810. From the beginning\, he had an extraordinary presence. He assumed the food and clothing of a beggar and compassionately gave whatever he had for the benefit of others. He repaired temples and constructed new ones for the benefit of countless people. Many exalted lamas and noblemen respected him and considered him a pure object of refuge. As he traveled throughout Amdo\, both Buddhist and Bönpo Geshes sought out his advice and instruction. At the time of his passing in 1835\, many wondrous signs were observed including five kinds of rainbows in the sky. \nThe seven categories for “The Heartdrop of Jamma are: 1) generating the mind of enlightenment\, 2) going for refuge\, 3) admitting and purifying wrongdoing\, 4) offering the mandala\, 5) prayer of supplication\, 6) inviting the deity\, and 7) praising the enlightened state. If you recite from the beginning until the end\, it is the same as reciting the Kangyur (canon of teachings of the buddha) one time. If you perform the yidam practice daily\, you will attain buddhahood in this single lifetime with this body. Her name means “the nun initiated in Wisdom” and her Getsukma vows were granted by His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima\, Abbot of the Menri monastery in India in 2007. \nBefore encountering the Yungdrung Bön Tradition of Tibet (in 1995)\, she followed a realized Vedantic master called Swami Chinmayananda for five years (1987-1992) till he passed away. She stayed six months in an ashram in the Himalayas to do meditation retreat and learn Sanskrit in 1989. She has also had several 6-month retreats in Triten Norbutse\, Nepal\, and Menri Monastery in India. \nHis Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche is her Root Lama since 1999 and she has followed His teachings since. She has also received teachings from Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche\, Lama Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche\, Khenpo Gelek Jimpa\, Geshe Chapur and other Geshes. In 2005 she went on a one-month pilgrimage to sacred Zhang Zhung sites mainly in lake Dangra Yumtso\, Namtso\, Triten Norbutse and Yungdrung Ling Monasteries. One of the most important results of this pilgrimage was that she brought back relics and sacred offerings of the sacred sites\, donations of Bonpo hermits\, and relics from Triten Norbutse monastery in Tibet to be placed in the hearts of five different stupas: two in Dolpo\, one in Torreón\, Mexico\, one in Valle de Bravo\, Mexico and the last one in Shenten Dargye Ling in France. \nCurrently she lives in La Paz\, Mexico\, translates into Spanish many of the online teachings and coordinates one sangha there.

DESCRIPTION:Yangtse Longchen Dzög Chen\nThe Highest Peak and Vast Expanse of the Great Perfection\nPart 4\nOur resident lama\, Geshe Denma Gyaltsen teaches Part 4 of Yangtse Longchen Dzögchen: The Highest Peak and Great Expanse of the Great Perfection series on March 4-5\, 2023. IN PERSON at our center and ONLINE via ZOOM. \nWe have completed the preliminary practices in Part 1\, 2\, and 3. In Part 4\, Geshe Denma will interpret and instruct us in the Dzögchen portion of the text. Geshe Denma will give transmission at the end of the retreat. \nIt is not necessary to have attended Parts 1\, 2\, and 3. All are welcome to attend\, listen\, learn\, and practice together. \nYangtse Longchen Dzög Chen is The Highest Peak and Vast Expanse of the Great Perfection. This teaching is a summary of the main portions of Dragpa Korsum\, which is one of the four auxiliary sources of information about Dzögchen. Dzögchen Dragpa Korsum is the source of the lineage of Shenlha Odkar. He appears in the form of the Dzogku\, the Body of the Perfected Qualities\, also called Sambhogakaya of the Three Realms (god\, human\, and naga). \nLive translation is available in Spanish\, Portuguese and Russian. Retreat will be recorded. \n \nThe author of this text is Lishu Tagring\, shown in the image above.  Lishu Tagring had a miracle birth as a female named Takza Liwer. She was a good practitioner and at age 360 years she had a gender change to become a male and was named Lishu Tagring.  Lishu Tagring was king for 82 years and then married his consort\, Choza Bonmo at age 1\,200 years.  When he was 2\,300 years old\, he went to Shel Gyi Brag Kar Tse Zong known as the Summit Castle of the White Crystal Cliff and composed this Dzögchen teaching in this place. This is a very unique teaching which is not often made public. \nWe have completed the preliminary practices as the foundation in Parts 1-3. This teaching introduces the main Dzögchen practice. Geshe Denma will give transmission for Part 4 at the end of the retreat. His father brought him to Menri Monastery\, India\, regarded as the mother Bon monastery in exile\, in 1981 to begin his program of study toward the Geshe degree. He received all the Bon teachings\, initiations and transmissions in sutra\, tantra and dzogchen from His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche\, the 33rd Menri Trizin\, and His Eminence Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. \nWhen he became a senior student\, he was asked to teach philosophy to younger students. He successfully completed this degree program in 1996 and was awarded the Geshe certificate\, which is considered equivalent to a Ph.D. in Bön Buddhist philosophy and religion. \nGeshe Denma was an accomplished teacher and in 1998 was appointed\, with the approval of the Tibetan government in exile\, first abbot of Zhu Rishing Yungdrung Kundak-Ling Monastery\, a Bon Monastery in Sikkim\, India by His Holiness. He served two terms in this capacity until 2003. In addition\, from the time he graduated until 2008\, Geshe Denma also was active in assisting Geshe Nyima Dakpa with the Bon Children’s Home\, which houses many children in Dolanji\, India\, providing them with food\, healthcare and free education.
