SUMMARY:Introduction to Meditation in the Tradition of Yungdrung Bön - Presented by Ani Sherab Wangmo
DESCRIPTION:The meditation in the Yundrung Bön Spiritual Tradition is the Path that we all need to tread to be able to control our mind and train it so that we can live with more peace\, quiet and serenity. \nIn the beginning we do have to know the context in which these sacred practices are\, so that we really know what we are doing and why. This very certainty allows us as practitioners to focus our attention on the goal and do not get distracted. It is an Ocean of Wisdom and we are beginning by touching the surface. \nAni Sherab Wangmo is a nun of the Yungdrung Bön Tradition\, an authorized instructor of the Lineage\, and a practitioner for 22 years. Her name means “the nun initiated in wisdom” and her monastic vows Getsukma were bestowed by His Holiness Lungtok Tenpai Nyima\, Abbot of the Menri Monastery in India. She was in charge of the fundraising of the Bön Children and Monks of the two main monasteries. She made a pilgrimage to Zhang Zhung sacred sites in Tibet in 2005\, especially Bon monasteries in the area that held the last capital of the Empire. One of the fruits of this pilgrimage was the collection of relics and sacred offerings for incorporation into the Bön Stupa of Torreon\, the Bön Stupa for World Peace in Chammaling\, Valle de Bravo and two Stupas in Dolpo.  \n\n\n Public Talk\nFriday. SUMMARY:Opening the Door to Bön - The 9 Breathings of Purification
DESCRIPTION:Practice Description \n \n \n	\n\n\nThis Sunday\, we will explore the practice of the Nine Breathings of Purification. \nThe View of the wisdom tradition of Bön Buddhism is that the nature of our mind is clear and open\, like a cloudless dessert sky. What causes our suffering\, is our disconnection from our true nature. The practice of these cleansing breaths\, help us to clear what obscures our recognition of our true nature. \nThere is no fee for this session but a suggested donation of $10 to the Center is gratefully appreciated. \n\n\n \n \n \n Contract Information \n \n \n	\n\n Leslie Abuso \n \n \n \n leslieabuso@ligminchatexas.org

SUMMARY:Opening the Door to Bön - the Warrior Syllables
DESCRIPTION:The Five Warrior Syllables (Tibetan Sound Healing) \n \n \n	\nThe sacred sounds of the Five Warrior Syllables are a part of the Bön healing tradition and have been handed down from master to student for generations. In recent years\, these ancient practices have been brought to life in the west through the tireless teaching and writing of Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche\, author of Tibetan Sound Healing. The Five Warrior Syllables Practice engages the power of sound and silence to help heal physical illness\, clear psychological and energetic disturbances\, and support the spiritual practitioner to abide with clear and open awareness. \nIn our Sunday practice session\, led by Leslie Abuso\, we will spend time with all five syllables. There will be instruction\, practice and time for questions and discussion. The practice is open to all levels of practitioner. There is no fee but donations to the Ligmincha Texas Center are greatly appreciated. \n“The practice of the Five Warrior Syllables is a skillful means that can support us to release our negative and limiting behavioral patterns of body\, speech and mind.” (from “Tibetan Sound Healing” Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche.) \nThere is no need to register but it is helpful if you RSVP to Leslie at 713-444-3457. \nThere is a bookstore onsite and this book is available for purchase.

SUMMARY:Bardo: The Intermediate State of Being with
Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche
DESCRIPTION:Bardo in Tibetan means “intermediate state” and describes any temporary state of existence – such as dreams\, meditation\, life\, and death.   Usually the term is used for the special phase between death and rebirth. The various states of the Bardo have different names and descriptions.  At the same time\, however\, essential aspects in common include separation\, transition\, awareness\, and a new beginning. In Bardo\, we are particularly sensitive and receptive to our environment. To discover the Bardo states in life and to develop an awareness of them is of great importance. With the resulting knowledge of impermanence\, we can give a new value to life and ourselves and help others on the way to the Bardo of the dying process. In all traditional texts of the original Tibetan Yungdrung Bon tradition\, various forms of Bardo appear. Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche will explain important philosophical aspects of the Bardo as described by authentic texts and show us how we can integrate the practice and awareness of Bardo in our lives.\n\n\n Weekend Retreat\nSaturday\, October 19th 10:00 am – 5:00 pm \nand Sunday \, October 20th 10:00 am – 4:00 pm \n$135  Early-Bird Registration thru October 15th\n  $150 Standard Registration \nLocation \nLigmincha Texas – 5316 Bellaire Blvd. – Bellaire TX\nRegister through the links provided above. \nFinancial hardship alone should not prevent a practitioner from attending teachings.\nSpecial payment plans are available.\nPlease contact us at info@ligminchatexas.org\n	\n \n \n \n \nTeaching by Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung\n \n \n \n	\n \nKhenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche is the abbot of the monastery Bon Triten Norbutse in Kathmandu\, Nepal. He was born in a Tibetan family in Dhorpatan\, a remote area in the west of Nepal. At the age of eleven he joined the monks of the local monastery. He studied the philosophical system of Yungdrung Bon for 13 years\, including the teachings and practice of Sutra\, Tantra and Dzogchenthe\, general Tibetan sciences\,Tibetan grammar\, poetry\, divination and traditional medicine. HH 33. Menri Trizin Lungtok Tenpa  Nyima Rinpoche and HE Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche appointed him in 2001 to Khenpo (abbot) of the monastery. SUMMARY:Tibetan Language Bön Prayers: Session III
DESCRIPTION:The Invocation of Tapihritsa with Geshe Denma Gyaltsen\nOctober 20\, 2019 – November 17\, 2019 \nThe five-week session begins October 20\, 2019\, studying approximately four verses of Tibetan text for each class. The live class through Zoom video-conference occurs Sunday mornings at 9:00 am (Central Standard Time\, Houston). \nThe Tibetan Language Bön Prayers Program is pleased to announce a new course taught by Geshe Denma Gyaltsen\, the resident lama of Ligmincha Texas: Session III: The Invocation of Tapihritsa. The course focuses on the Invocation of Tapihritsa\, a marvelous twenty-three verse prayer spontaneously composed by Nangzher Lopo upon recognizing Tapihritsa who manifested in the sky above him as a radiant Buddha of white light. Following this supreme encounter\, Nangzher Lopo\, the renowned 8th-century scholar and practitioner\, was the first to set in writing the Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyüd (the Oral Transmission of Zhang Zhung)\, one of the most revered series of Bön dzogchen teachings. The Invocation of Tapihritsa beautifully communicates the unbounded wholeness of Bön dzogchen\, sacred narrative\, and religious art. \nGuided by Geshe Denma’s lively teaching\, students will learn Tibetan letter recognition\, correct pronunciation and melody of the invocation\, and encounter its meaning through Tibetan stories\, prominent thangka paintings\, and Bön philosophy. \nThere are no prerequisites for the course. No prior knowledge of Tibetan is needed. Whether one took Geshe-la’s previous courses on Tibetan Language Daily Prayers or is starting brand new\, the class is a great opportunity. The teachings are vast\, and the connection is fresh and lively. \n \nCourse materials include: \nTibetan Study Edition of the Invocation including Tibetan script\, Wylie transliteration\, phonetic transliteration\, word-by-word translation\, and full English translation\nTibetan Language Learning Materials to introduce the reading of Tibetan language including the alphabet with Wylie transliteration and the formation of Tibetan syllables with prefixes\, superscripts\, subscripts\, suffixes\, and secondary suffixes.\nAudio recording of the Invocation of Tapihritsa\nNew for Session III: Video recording of the line-by-line Tibetan spelling\, pronunciation\, and word meanings of the Invocation of Tapihritsa. Based in student-feedback\, this should enhance the opportunity for self-paced study and increase the time during the live classes to encounter the warmth of Geshe-la’s teaching.\nThe course implements a blended approach to online learning with both self-paced study and a weekly class. Class materials and discussion forums are hosted on the Ligmincha Learning course page\, and the weekly live-class (60 minutes) occurs through Zoom video-conference which will also be recorded. The course is co-designed with Geshe Denma as the lead teacher and Bob Clark\, an English teacher and longtime student of Tenzin Rinpoche\, as teaching-assistant.\n\n\n Zoom On Line Course Dates:  October 20 – Nov 17\, 2019\nCost: $125\nRegistration is now open.  \nFrequently Asked Questions

SUMMARY:The Power of Mantra: A Om Hung
DESCRIPTION:An open mind and compassionate heart are important and necessary virtues to lead a good life. But we are often bound and limited by our prejudices\, fears\, and divisions. Awareness is the key that frees us and allows our positive qualities to be expressed. Awareness is essential for spiritual transformation. When we open our body\, speech\, and mind with awareness\, our inherent capacity for love is found to be already present. In the Bön tradition of Tibet\, sacred sound is used as a skillful means to release tensions and blockages in our body\, free our speech of divisions of exclusion and bias\, and activate the compassionate qualities of an open heart. Through engaging the sacred syllables of A\, OM\, and HUNG\, we employ the power of mantra to awaken the sacred dimension of our body\, speech\, and mind and transform our life for the benefit of ourselves and others.   \nThis teaching is especially precious as Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche will not be teaching in 2021.  Rinpoche is taking a year-long sabbatical and will return to teaching in 2022. You won’t want to miss this opportunity! \nLocation \nThe Jung Center Houston\n \nhttps://junghouston.org/ \n\n(click on red button “search programs”) \nRegister through the links provided above. \nFinancial hardship alone should not prevent a practitioner from attending teachings.\nSpecial payment plans are available.\nPlease contact us at info@ligminchatexas.org\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n \nFounder and spiritual director of Ligmincha International\, Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche is a respected and beloved teacher and meditation master in the Bön Buddhist tradition of Tibet.  He has students in more than 25 countries\, teaches around the world and reaches thousands of students through his online programs. \nTrained as a Bön monk\, Rinpoche now lives as a householder\, allowing him to more fully relate to the needs and concerns of his students.  Known for the depth of his wisdom and his unshakeable commitment to helping students recognize their true nature\, he is the author of many books and online courses. \nFluent in English\, Tenzin Rinpoche teaches in a warm and engaging style\, frequently drawing on examples from contemporary culture to bring the ancient Bön teachings to life\, making them relevant to the lives of modern people and a powerful basis for spiritual growth. He is equally at home teaching online and in a retreat setting. \nRinpoche regularly teaches in Europe\, the United States\, Mexico\, Central and South America\, and Asia. Information about worldwide locations may be found here. \nHe also is a leader in using technology to teach dharma. Rinpoche has offered free live webcasts since 2009\, including through his Facebook page since 2016. Beginning in 2010 he has offered a variety of online courses\, through both Ligmincha Learning and GlideWing Productions. With the support of his global volunteer base\, Rinpoche’s teachings are available in as many as 18 different languages through both real-time translation and subtitles. Find out more about his live events here. Hundreds of hours of previously recorded teachings can be found on Ligmincha’s YouTube channel and Ocean of Wisdom. \nRecognizing the diverse needs of students\, Rinpoche has created two sister organizations to Ligmincha: The 3 Doors and Lishu Institute. The 3 Doors is an international organization that allows participants from all walks of life to go deep into the essence of the teachings. Its programs use meditation and community to support self-discovery\, personal transformation\, and actions that benefit others. Lishu Institute\, a residential education and retreat center in India\, offers intensive study and practice of the Bön tradition. Its programs run from two weeks to two months in length\, with some participants choosing extended study.

SUMMARY:LIGMINCHA TEXAS PREPARES FOR LOSAR\, YEAR OF THE IRON MOUSE 2020
DESCRIPTION:Losar\, which in Tibetan means “new year\,” is celebrated widely by Tibetans and Tibetan Bön and Buddhist centers throughout the world. This is the time to reflect on the passing of the old year and face the possibilities of the New Year will be celebrated by Ligmincha Texas\, here are the Losar activities. \nWednesday\, February 19\, at 6:45 pm \nWe will do a ransom ceremony at our center instead of regular practice at 6:45 pm.  At that time\, we will use this opportunity to cleanse ourselves spiritually\, to be ready for the New Year. Geshe Denma Gyaltsen will give blessing water.  We will think about releasing all the negative things that happened in this year so they will not be carried into the new iron Mouse year.  Please feel welcome to come and bring anyone who is interested in this beautiful experience. \nThursday\, February 20th \nIs the day we need to cleanse externally and clean our house\, office\, car\, and finish projects\, and generally prepare for a clean start in the next year. \n \nSaturday morning\, February 22\, at 9:00 am\, \nWe will celebrate Losar at our center.  We will use traditional Tibetan ways to greet the New Year.  \nEach person will light a candle on the altar and we will pray together.  Geshe Denma will do the Chemar ritual\, a traditional auspicious ceremony using barley flour called tsampa mixed with butter.  One person will hold a traditional container of tsampa and butter so each person can take a pinch\, offer it lightly three times\, touch it to the tongue\, and then say the traditional auspicious happiness greeting – \nTashi Delek phun sum tsok\, \nA ma bak dro ku kham sang\, \nTen du de wa to par shog. \nGongni Gongdu Phelwar Shog\,” \nThis means\, \n“Auspicious goodness and abundance to you\, may you be healthy and peaceful\, may you find eternal peace and happiness\, and may your pursuit of peace and happiness flourish day by day.” \n“The first offering of money of the year can be made to the altar and the Buddhas.  Everyone will wish one another a happy new year and good fortune\, health and all good things.  Geshela advises us to say only positive things all this day and not to engage in negativity in body\, speech or mind and to continue to do prayers.  Following the celebration\, we will all go to lunch together to start the new year together.  We also have new prayer flags in our center that you can obtain to hang traditionally at your home on the first day of Losar. \nMonday\, February 24 \nIs the actual first day of the Tibetan New Year\, the Year of the iron Mouse.  On this day\, it is traditional to do sang cho at home in the morning if you have received this teaching or do any practice that you have received.  It is also the day to hang new prayer flags at home. \nOn Saturday\, Feb 29\, at 11:00 am\nwe will celebrate the birthday of Nyame Sherap Gyaltsen\, first abbot and founder of Tashi Menri Ling\, the mother monastery of Bon in Tibet. We will also have a sangcho fire ritual\, and do a fish release ritual.  These are special spiritual experiences that bring blessings and merit to those who participate.  Afterward we will all eat together. This day we will meet at the home of Jackie Cole in Galveston. \nTibetans in India and Nepal do many traditional things during Losar. Families who can go to the Gompa to pay their respects to the lama\, circumambulate the temple\, offer prayer flags to the monastery\, raise prayer flags at one’s home and spend time with family. Often Tibetans will bring offerings to the Gompa\, such as flowers or butter lamps or cookies for tea with the lama\, and receive blessings so that all activities of the coming year will be successful. \nLigmincha Texas welcomes you to participate in all of these events\, and we wish you a very \nHappy New Tibetan Year of the iron Mouse. \nLosar Tashi Delek!\n \n \n \n \nText Divider \n \n \n	\nGeshe Denma Gyaltsen is the resident lama of Ligmincha Texas.
