SUMMARY:Losar Celebration - The Year of the Earth Pig
DESCRIPTION:Practice Description			\n			\n					\n	\nSaturday\, Feb. 9\, 2019 – 10:30 am at the Center — Losar celebration. We will use Tibetan traditions to greet the new year. Each person will light a candle on the altar and we will pray together. Geshe Denma will do the Chemar ritual\, a traditional auspicious ceremony using roasted barley flour (called tsampa) mixed with butter. One person will hold a traditional container of tsampa and butter so each person can take a pinch\, offer it lightly three times\, touch it to the tongue\, and then say the traditional auspicious happiness greeting – \nTashi Delek Phunsum Tsok\, Ama Bakdro Kukham Sang \nTendu Dewa Thobpar Shog\, Gongni Gongdu Phelwar Shog \nThe meaning in English is: Auspicious goodness and abundance to you\, may you be healthy and peaceful\, may you find eternal peace and happiness\, and may your pursuit of peace and happiness flourish day by day.  \nAccording to the lunar calendar\, the actual date of Losar is February 5\, 2019\, and you may wish to recognize that day even though we will be celebrating on the 9th so more people can attend. Following the ceremony\, we will all go to lunch to continue the happy gathering for an auspicious start to the new year.

These are special spiritual experiences that bring blessings and merit to those who participate. DESCRIPTION:Ligmincha Texas Celebrates Losar 2024\nYear of the Wood Dragon \nThis year we will celebrate with our Ligmincha International sangha. Ligmincha Texas welcomes you to participate in all of these events\, and we wish you a very Happy New Tibetan Year of the Wood Dragon. Please join us. \nLosar Tashi Delek 2024! \nLosar\, which in Tibetan means ‘’new year\,” is celebrated widely by Tibetans and Tibetan Bön and Buddhist centers throughout the world. This is the time to reflect on the passing of the old year and face the possibilities of the New Year. Losar will be celebrated by Ligmincha International centers worldwide. Traditionally\, the first day of Losar begins three days of celebration. For those living near Ligmincha Texas\, here are the Losar activities. Everyone may participate in the Sang Chod ceremony via Zoom and/or in-person in Galveston. \n\nSaturday\, February 10\, 2024 \nLosar in Galveston\, Texas \n11:30am CST in person \nGeshe Denma will open celebration with releasing bait fish into the bayou\, a joyous ritual to give new life to sentient beings and accumulate positive karma.  We do this ritual and dedicate the merit to the long life and health of beloved HE Yongdzin Rinpoche.  He is 99 years old. \n  \n12:30 pm CST by Zoom and in person \nGeshe Denma will lead a Sang Chod smoke offering ceremony in conjunction with Ligmincha International.  This event is free and open to all on Zoom. DESCRIPTION:Celebration of Nyamme Sherab Gyaltsen’s Birthday\nLigmincha Texas Center \nWednesday\, March 5\, 2025 \n6:00 pm CST in person only \nGeshe Denma will lead this celebration instead of our regular practice. \n Celebrate the birthday of the second Buddha of Yungdrung Bön\, Nyamme Sherap Gyaltsen (1356–1415)\, the first abbot and founder of Menri Monastery\, the mother monastery of Bön in Tibet. Geshe Denma will lead us in a practice with a special prayer to Nyamme Sherap Gyaltsen. On this auspicious day\, each person will light a candle and pray the short and long invocation of Nyamme Sherap Gyaltsen. \nNyamme Sherab Gyalsten was known as a great reformer and reinvigorated the Bönpo monastic tradition\, causing many monasteries to flourish. Nyamme Sherab Gyaltsen was also the first master to collect and hold all the transmissions and empowerments of all the Bön lineages. All of these transmissions have continued to be held by each of the successive Abbots of Menri\, and over time\, the Abbot of Menri came to be regarded as the head of the Bön religion.
