DESCRIPTION:Memorial for Frank and Dorothy Matthews\nSunday\, May 24th at 2 pm CDT. \n\nOur dear Dorothy was a very special being touching the lives of so many. \nWe will have a memorial service for both Dorothy and Frank in person at our center and on Zoom May 24\, 2026 at 2 pm CDT. Please come if you are moved to do so. \nHer physical presence will be missed by so many yet the essence of her lives on In our hearts. \nMuch love to all in the light of Bon. \n\n \nDorothy Feeney Matthews (1945–2026)\nDorothy Feeney Matthews\, a retired psychologist with the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and the beloved wife of the late Frank F. Matthews\, passed away peacefully on May 13\, 2026. \nBorn January 8\, 1945\, in Charlotte\, North Carolina\, Dorothy was the cherished daughter of Buena Criminger Feeney and Burla Leighton Feeney. She graduated from Duke University and earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from The Ohio State University. In 1972\, she made Houston her home\, where she built a life filled with purpose\, compassion\, and community. \nDorothy touched countless lives through her work and her gentle spirit. She was a founding member of Ligmincha Texas and served as its director for many years\, sharing her wisdom and kindness with all who knew her. Dorothy was also an early supporter of Childbuilders and served on Childbuilders advisory board for numerous years. \nShe is survived by her sister\, Margaret Mattison of South Carolina\, and was predeceased by her brother\, Floyd Feeney of California. Dorothy’s love extended to her family of five nieces and nephews\, nine grandnieces and grandnephews\, and five great-grandnieces and nephews—spread across England\, California\, and many states in between. Her warmth and generosity will be remembered by all whose lives she graced. \nA memorial service will be held in person at Ligmincha Texas\, and on Zoom on Sunday\, May 24\, 2026\, at 2:00 pm CDT. \nInstead of flowers\, the family invites contributions to Ligmincha Texas\, Inc.\, P.O. Box 2731\, Bellaire\, Texas 77402 ( ligminchatexas.org/donate )in honor of Dorothy’s lifelong dedication to community and spiritual growth. \n\n \nFrank Matthews (09/05/1942 – 08/29/2025)\nFrank F. Matthews\, retired Associate Professor of Mathematics and one of the founding faculty at the University of Houston–Clear Lake\, passed away peacefully on August 29\, 2025. \nBorn on September 5\, 1942\, in Cleveland\, Ohio\, Frank was predeceased by his parents Frank F. Matthews\, Sr.\, and Cecelia Figas Matthews.
